We Keep Things Organized

  • A new season of Tasawwur, beginning with new partnerships! We're super excited to share that we are now going to be collaborating with Action for Ability Development and Inclusion (AADI). What this means: our weekly rehearsals will now take place in a fully accessible building, right across from a metro station on the yellow line. Plus, AADI has offered to have support staff at hand for participants who have special needs, and also to support the facilitation team with ideas, skills, and resources we might need as we begin to work with a more inclusive group.   • We have news! Tasawwur is now officially an incubatee of "Dhriiti - The Courage Within," a wonderful organization that works with new enterprises towards creating organizations that are financially, socially and ecologically sustainable. Over the next year or two, Dhriiti will help us with all the backend with that makes the front-end with our teenagers most fun and impactful. From the 2-3 meetings we've had so far, we can tell you that they ask the BEST questions, we always walk away with fresh insight and lots to think about.   • All right, people. We've brainstormed with our youth about the components of the upcoming show, and we are spending this week on the exhausting but exhilarating work of threading narratives, themes, and elements together into fictionalized stories that they will share with you all in just over 6 weeks! This is a good moment for us to put out a call for musicians and actors willing to volunteer some time helping our teenagers tell these stories most effectively. You'd work with our facilitators, and you'd mostly be coaching smaller groups of teenagers on specific scenes/ dialogues/ songs. You're looking at 4-6 hours a week, mostly on weekends, for about 6 weeks... and lots of warmth, fun, and learning along the

  • After weeks of planning, discussing, and writing, we began rehearsals today for "Silence, please!", a new, original production based on the lives of our cast members, which premieres in the second week of February. Stay tuned!
